On November 22nd, 2025, the Great Achievers Initiative hosted its annual end-of-year programme, the Great Achievers Summit and Award of Excellence, at the Abuja Intercontinental Hotel. The event brought together leaders, mentors, advocates, and stakeholders committed to social impact and youth development across Africa.
With the theme “The Re-orientation of the Male Child Mentorship in Africa,” the summit focused on redefining how society nurtures, mentors, and supports the boy child. In addition to celebrating individuals who had made remarkable contributions throughout the year, the event created space for dialogue, reflection, and purposeful action.
A Meaningful Moment Before the Awards
A major highlight of the summit took place before the distribution of awards, when a special book launch was held. This moment set the tone for the rest of the event, reminding attendees of the deeper responsibility behind achievement and leadership.
The book, titled Unheard Voices of the Boychild, was officially introduced by its author, Dr. Hillary Akpua, to an attentive audience. The launch drew significant interest and reinforced the importance of advocacy as a tool for long-term social change.
About the Book and the Author
Unheard Voices of the Boychild is an NGO advocacy publication that sheds light on the emotional, social, and developmental challenges faced by boys in today’s society. The book addresses the need for intentional mentorship, understanding, and support systems that allow boys to grow into responsible and emotionally balanced men.
Dr. Hillary Akpua is a dedicated boy-child advocate and the founder of an NGO focused on promoting the welfare and development of the boy child. His work centers on ensuring that boys are listened to, guided, and given a voice in conversations that shape their future. According to the author, the inspiration for the book came directly from the experiences and realities of boy children, whose stories often go unheard.
During the launch, Dr. Hillary Akpua emphasized that advocacy must go beyond words and intentions, calling for deliberate efforts to document issues, educate communities, and create sustainable mentorship structures.

Significance of the Book Launch
The book launch was particularly significant as it aligned closely with the mission of the Great Achievers Initiative. Advocating for the well-being of the boy child forms an essential part of the organization’s work, making the launch a natural and meaningful addition to the summit.
It also reinforced the event’s theme, highlighting the need to reorient male child mentorship across Africa through awareness, education, and collective responsibility.
Accessing the Book
Photographs from the launch captured the significance of the moment and the shared commitment of attendees. Physical copies of Unheard Voices of the Boychild are available at the organization’s office, while online copies can be purchased via Amazon, making the book accessible to readers globally.
As the Great Achievers Initiative continues to drive impact, the launch of this book stands as a reminder that true excellence includes advocacy, compassion, and the courage to speak up for the next generation.
