2025 international day of the boychild Celebration

On May 16, 2025, Great Achievers Initiative for Youth and Community Development (GAIYD) marked the International Day of the Boy Child with a memorable event held at Merit House, Maitama, Abuja This year’s celebration focused on empowering young boys through education, awareness, and skill acquisition under the theme of promoting well-being and positive development.
The program commenced with the National Anthem which was controlled by the event MC Emma Passions, setting a patriotic tone for the day. This was followed by a warm opening speech and welcome remarks by Dr. Hillary Akpua, who emphasized the critical need to pay attention to the challenges facing the boy child in today’s society. His address highlighted the importance of fostering emotional resilience, responsibility, and positive identity in boys from an early age.
The event was graced by Olori Temitope Enitan Ogunwusi Olori Ojaja II(Royal Mother of the Day), Alhaji Aminu Yakubu(Royal Father of the Day), Chief Dr Patrick Adilo(Patron GAIYD), Grace Owogoga, representative of gysapeo, Muhammed Bashir Ibrahim, representative of ndlea, Mrs. Aisha Muhammad representative chairman efcc ,Hon. Justice Mainasara Ibrahim kogo Umar(Chairman Code of conduct tribunal, CCT the president. Special guest of honor(GAIYD Grand patron), Kayode Adaramodu(special guest and keynote speaker) Representative of BMI Finishing school, Engr Dr. Hyeladi haruna GAIYD patron, Amb. Dr. Fatoumatta Gaye(Special Guest).
Our keynote speaker Dr. Kayode . Adaramodu, who spoke on the need to create safe spaces and opportunities for boys to thrive both academically and socially.
The highlight of the event was the captivating voice of the words of the spoken words artist KATHRYN ESTHER CLEMENT Her words echoed the silent struggles and unspoken dreams of boys everywhere — calling on society to listen, protect, and uplift them.
GAIYD extends sincere appreciation to all partners, supporters, educators, and participants who contributed to making this year’s International Day of the Boy Child a resounding success. Together, we are shaping a better tomorrow by investing in the potential of the boy child today.
