On the 11th of March 2025 The GAIYD team lead by Amb Dr. Hillary Akpua visited the Pace setters College as we commence our 2025 school sensitization, which was carried out in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). This program aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and promote healthy lifestyles among students across several schools in Abuja.
Over the course of the program, our team, alongside Mrs. Chizoba Etuka – NDLEA representative, Dr Alaname Toochukwu, and Mrs. Jane Williams, engaged with students, teachers, and staff through a series of interactive sessons. The sessions focused on educating young people about the risks associated with drug abuse, the importance of making informed decisions, coping skills, the importance of taking care of their bodies, and the available resources for support and prevention.
The partnership with NDLEA was instrumental in delivering expert insights on drug law enforcement and rehabilitation, ensuring that students not only understood the social and legal consequences of drug use but also gained practical tools to resist temptation and support their peers.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to NDLEA for their collaboration and to all the schools, teachers, and students who made this initiative a success. Together, we are helping to empower the next generation with the knowledge and tools they need to live drug-free lives.
We were able to sensitize 81 boys and 8 teachers at the pace setter college.
