On May 16th, 2025, Great Achievers Initiative for Youth and Community Development (GAIYD) marked the International Day of the Boy Child with a memorable event held at Merit House, Maitama, Abuja. This year’s celebration focused on empowering young boys through education, awareness under the theme boys mental health and wellbeing.
Great Achievers Initiative for Youth and Community Development (GAIYD) Organized an essay Competition(Where are the Mentors?The missing role models for boys Growth and Development) . 9 Schools Participated and were represented by ;

- Adeniyi Adewonuola David—GDSS Wuse Zone 2
- Destiny Roberts Ewoma – Model Secondary School
- Afamefume Chinedu – GSS Tundun wada Zone 4
- Usoro S U Eliel – Divine Mercy
- Alifia Goodluck – Melchizedek Academy
- Liadi Toluwani – Pace Setters College
- Okpanachi Chidubem – GSS Area 10
The boys gave brilliant and inspirational words about their mentors and role models. Also talked about the importance of role models in the lives of the boychild.
Second runner up is Liadi Toluwani – Pace Setters College with 65 points was awarded with 50,000 naira worth of scholarship prize
First runner up Destiny Roberts Ewoma – Model Secondary School with 70 points was awarded with 100,000 naira worth of scholarship prize
The winner Okpanachi Chidubem – GSS Area 10 with 71 points was awarded 150,000 naira worth of scholarship prize.
GAIYD Patron Chief Dr Patrick Chukwudi Adilo rounded up the event by Awarding scholarship to 6 students for their amazing performance to complete their secondary school education
